William Sumner, 85, of Russell, PA. and Lakeland, FL., died Sunday evening, May 30, 2021, at his summer home at Hidden Valley Campgrounds, Kiantone, N.Y., Bill was born August 25, 1935, in Warren, PA. He has resided most of his life in Russell, PA. and wintered in Lakeland, FL. He was a 1953 graduate of Warren High School. Bill was employed as a grinder at the former MRC and retired from SKF Bearing Company after 33 years employment. He then went to work at Blueberry Golf Course for 25 years. He along with his son, Dean, built two golf courses known as Quinton Oaks in Queensfield, VA. He was an avid bowler in his younger years, loved to golf, enjoyed reading especially history. He is lovingly remembered for having nicknames for all of his family members and friends. Bill was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and Sons of the American Legion Post in Frewsburg, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Suzanne Kranking Sumner whom he married October 19, 1957 in Mayville, N.Y., 4 Children – Dean Sumner and wife, Joan of Callao, VA, Ken Sumner and wife, Debbie of Warren, PA., Anne Beck and husband, William of Russell, PA., Lynne Wood and husband, Erick of Visalia, CA., 2 Sisters – Dorothy Allenson of Sugar Grove, PA., Margaret Smith of Clymer, N.Y., Foster Brother – Gary Russ and wife, Ruth of Russell, PA., 9 Grandchildren – Kelly Sumner, Maddie Sumner, David Sumner, Ross Sumner and wife, Danise, Christopher Sumner and wife, Judy, Jordan Beck and wife, Laura, Sara Perez and husband, Christopher, Danielle Huddleston and husband, Christopher, Nicholas Wood, 6 Great Grandchildren – Grayson, Jollene,, Forrest, Hudson, Oliver, James. Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Grace Gage Sumner, 3 Sisters – Martha Chesier, Glenna Lewis, Evalyn Sumner.

Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 6 to 8 P.M. and on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Cable Hollow Community Church, 3157 Cable Hollow Road, Russell, PA., from 10 to 11:00 A.M. where a funeral and committal service will follow visitation with Rev.
