William J. “Bill” Weidert, 89, of Harrisburg, PA and formerly of Warren, PA, died on September 18, 2015 in Harrisburg.

Born on March 25, 1926 in Warren, PA he was the son of the late Leo L. and Irene A. Giegerich Weidert. On June 6, 1953 in St. Michael’s Church in Fryburg, PA, he married Imogene F. Ditz, who died on August 20, 2015.

Bill graduated from Warren High School, Class of 1943 and in 1952 he graduated from Warren Business School. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, having been stationed in Japan. He was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church. Bill’s interests included reading, baseball, basketball and golf. He helped to form the Over 70 League at Cable Hollow Golf Course and was one of the three founders of the Independent Baseball League for Boys.

Bill is survived by his two children, Dan Weidert and his wife, Julie, of Houston, TX and Terri Weber and her husband, Lee, of Harrisburg, PA, grandchildren, Greg, Eric, Sam, Ross, Leah and Zach Weidert, Amy Weidert Decker and Todd and Scott Weber. In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Randy Weidert, 2 sisters, Bettie Sharp and Mary Winchester, and a brother, Bob Weidert.

Friends may call at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA from 2-3pm on Friday, October 9, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3:00PM with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by members of the Sheffield/Clarendon V.F.W.
