Valerie Lemmon Shaw, 78, of Warren, Pa., who died Wednesday morning, September 28, 2011 at Warren General Hospital after a brief illness. She was born September 20, 1933 in Warren, Pa., to the late Charles S. and Helen M. Arnold Lemmon. Val was a lifelong resident of Warren and a 1951 graduate of Warren High School. She was employed with the former MetzgarWright Dept. Store, Warren National Bank and Stan Lantz Market. She retired after 40 years service from the Pleasant Township Country Fair. She was known as the “Pretzel Lady” of Country Fair. Valerie was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Senior Fellowship, Prayer Shawl Group, State Hospital Ministry, Bible Study and Choir Member. She was also a member of the Pleasant Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary where she was active with Bingo and a seller of gun tickets for their turkey party. She is survived by her 3 children Linda J. Rose and husband, Edwin of Irvine, Pa., James Alan Shaw and wife, Dr. Ruth of Russell, Pa., Keith Sturley Shaw of Warren, Pa., longtime friend Edward Gern of Warren, Pa., 6 grandchildren,1 greatgranddaughter, 5 step greatgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shaw who died November 1, 1986 whom she married February 1, 1958 in Warren, Pa. Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, Pa. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 Pleasant Drive, Warren, Pa. with Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
