Thomas Emmett Gibson, 71, of Audubon, PA and formerly of Warren, PA., passed away on March 9, 2013 after an extended illness. He was born in Warren, PA on April 4, 1941 and graduated from Warren High School in 1959. From 1961 through 1964, Tom served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a loyal Marine throughout his life, believing strongly in the motto: “once a Marine, always a Marine.” Following his time in the service, Tom attended St. Joseph’s University. After working in the business field for a number of years, he determined that he wanted to work outdoors. He spent the remainder of his working years in the landscaping industry. Tom loved being outside-in the woods, on the beach, in his garden. Maine was his favorite destination. Tom is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ruth Hamilton Gibson and their daughter, Amanda Gibson Lofink and her husband Brian P. Lofink. Tom also survived by several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Leo D. and Kathleen Gibson and two sisters, Eileen Anderson and JoAnne Shanshala Friends may call at Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M where a funeral service will be conducted Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. by Fr. James Gutting, Pastor of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, officiating. Interment will be Foster Cemetery, Lander, PA. where full military honors will be conducted by members of the John Gertsch Memorial Vietnam Post and the U.S. Marine Corp. personnel.
