Ruth Elaine Freeman, 86, Philip E. Freeman’s beloved wife of 63 years, went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 27, 2014 after a one month stay at Warren Manor. She was born on April 18, 1927 to the late J. Mervyn and Mary A. Hector Campbell.

Ruth graduated from Warren High school in 1945 and attended Houghton College where she studied music and excelled at tennis. On September 23, 1950 she married Philip at the Clarendon Methodist Church. They lived in North Warren for 15 years before returning to Clarendon, where Ruth had grown up.

Ruth’s many interests included crafts, playing the piano and organ by ear and having lots of flowers to make her home look beautiful. She was a lifelong member of the Clarendon United Methodist Church, having taught Sunday for 30 years and she also taught Bible school and sang in the choir. Ruth had been a Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Warren County Cooperative Extension Board. Two of her favorite activities were making and filling Christmas stockings for family and friends and having an Easter egg hunt for her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Philip, Ruth is survived by three daughters, Marilyn McCoy, Marge (Randy) Jones and Norma Todd and her fiancé, Kevin Inwood, all of Warren, PA, seven grandchildren, Melissa (Jon) Kulp, Kelly McCoy and her fiancé Brad Rubbo, Adam McCoy, Jeremiah McCracken, Justin (Ashley) McCracken, Eric Jones and Emily Jones, and five great-grandchildren, Elijah Kulp, Madison McCracken and Sophie McCracken, and Parker and Phoenix McCracken. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Campbell and son-in-law, Lew Todd.

Friends may call from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Martin Reynolds, Pastor of the Clarendon United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Warren, PA.
