Ronald A. Tubbs, 82, of Starbrick, PA, died peacefully Monday morning August 7, 2023, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, with his family by his side. He was born on September 20, 1940, in Corry, Pennsylvania, and raised by his grandmother Dorothy M. Scott, and attended Eisenhower High School.
Ron was a life-long resident of Warren County. For 35 years Ron worked as a lineman for the Warren Electric Cooperative, a job that brought him significant satisfaction, particularly in serving as an instructor to journeyman lineman.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army – 101st Airborne division (1958-1961), and the United States Marine Corp, where he was among the first Marines to land in Vietnam before returning home where he prepared new recruits to serve at Camp Pendleton. While in California, Ron took up bull riding and returned to Warren County, where he trained at the Penn State Farrier school to become a blacksmith. Ron was Scout leader for Starbrick Cub Scout Pack 16 and Boy Scout Troop 24, an active member of the American Legion Post 135, coached Starbrick Allegheny Hot Stove League, served on Executive Board for I.B.E.W. Local 1124. Ron was also an avid golfer and member of Jackson Valley Golf Course.
He is survived by his two sons – Roger Tubbs and wife, Shelle of North Warren, PA, Andy Tubbs, and wife, Tracey of Mechanicsburg, PA. He is also survived by three grandchildren – Jessica Ristau Flickner, and husband, Michael, Meghan Tubbs, and husband, Clinton Morgan, and Chase Tubbs, and two great-grandchildren — Aubrey and Wesley Flickner, as well as several nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara A. Tubbs, his sister Janet M. Lindell, and his brother, Roger H. Tubbs.
Friends may call at First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Street, Warren, PA on Saturday, August 19th from –10:00 to 11:00 A.M. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, Pastor, officiating. A private burial at Westview Cemetery, Starbrick, PA. will be held at the convenience of the family.
