Paul John Mailhot of Magnolia Springs East, 13600 La Grange Road, Louisville, KY died at his home on September 6, 2022. He was born in Cranston, RI, August 27, 1925, son of Frederick and Gracia Prue Mailhot.
He lived in Cranston, RI until 1943 when he entered the US Navy for service in the Pacific Theater in World War II. Graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1951, his employment career included seven years with Link Aviation in Binghamton, NY and twenty-nine years with Itek Optical Systems in Lexington, MA.

Mr. Mailhot resided in Framingham, MA from 1960 until 1988, where he was a member of the St. Bridget Parish, and in Warren, PA from 1988 until 2013, where he was a member of the St. Joseph Parish. He was active in the Warren Senior Center and served on boards of the Ruth M. Smith Home, Experience, Inc., and RSVP, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles and The American Legion. He lived in Gibsonia, PA from 2013 until 2017, when he moved to Louisville, KY, where he resided until his death. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marguerite O’Halloran Mailhot in 1983, their daughter Michele Mary Mailhot in 2001, brothers Edgar, Gerald and Frederick, and sisters Mrs. Claire Preston and Mrs. Louise Mello.

Surviving are his wife, Betty McKown Gustafson Mailhot, whom he married in 1985; two sons, Paul Joseph Mailhot of Hararit, Israel and James P. Mailhot of Carlock, IL; two daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Shelton of Amesbury, MA and Mrs. Martha Bless of Woodbury, CT; two step-children, Mrs. Barbara Tonnissen of Louisville, KY and Mrs. Bonnell Irvin of Southport, NC; two brothers, John Mailhot of Ormond Beach, FL, and Dr. James Mailhot of Milbrae, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Stephen (Nancy) Burns of East Greenwich, RI, and Mrs. John (Patricia) Milligan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; ten grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Road, Framingham, MA 01702 on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at St. Stephen Cemetery, Fenwick Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
