Norman Laverne Perschke, 92
Warren, PA, died Friday evening, December 25, 2020 at Rouse Estates, Youngsville, PA, after a short illness.
He was born in Lawrence County Pa, on September 2, 1928, to the late Norman & Nellie Perschke. He married Edice J. Harlan on January 20, 1951, in New Castle, PA. Norm and Edice moved to Warren in 1961 to raise their 5 children. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, where he was a Deacon. Norm worked for Penn State Cooperative Extension as a 4-H Extension Agent. He retired in 1986 after 25 years of service. Early in his career in Warren he was involved with the committee to move the Warren County Fair from the Youngsville Pa location to its current location in Pittsfield, Pa and spent many hours developing the 4-H program. Norm was instrumental in the planning and building many of the 4-H buildings at the new fairgrounds.
In retirement, Norm was instrumental in helping his wife Edice with building and operating High Country Flowers & Gifts. He had a passion for woodworking, creating many projects and sharing with his family and friends.
For years, he spent Mondays delivering flowers to all residents in the surrounding nursing homes, to brighten their day. While there, he always found time to stop and visit. One of his missions during retirement was to visit every Church in Warren county for a Sunday Service, which he accomplished.
Norm was preceded in death by his wife Edice, of 59 years, parents Norman and Nellie; and his brothers, Thomas, George (Russ), Clarence (Bud) and Gerald.
In addition to his brother Edward (Nancy) Perschke, Grove City, PA; He is survived by his children: Lynda (Glenn Lawrence -deceased) Slocum – Warren PA; Barb (Douglas) Wilson, Warren PA; Bill (Shelley) Perschke, Scandia PA; Donald (Maureen) Perschke, Bradford PA; Stephen (Catherine) Perschke, Athens, GA.; And 23 Grandchildren; 16 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
