Matthew Scott Leach, 44, of Russell, PA, died peacefully of natural causes, with his family by his side, on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Matt was born November 30, 1979, in New Martinsville, WV. He was the son of Donald R. and Janet Rogerson Leach of New Martinsville, WV. He was a graduate of Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, WV, and he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry from West Virginia Institute of Technology, Montgomery WV. Matthew was employed by Veolia Environmental Services as account manager working primarily at United Refinery Company in Warren, PA.
Matt was a NASCAR enthusiast and fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and Steelers. Matt enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his wife and children. While growing up, he was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He maintained active involvement as a leader of Cub Scout Pack 14 in Russell, PA.
In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Krystal Bleifus Leach whom he married November 29, 2007, in Williamsburg, VA, his two children, who were the loves of his life, Derek (9) and Sydney (6), both at home, his sister, Erin Dornan and her wife, Sarah of Fredericksburg, VA, his sister-in-law, Samantha Haught of Wheeling, WV, his mother-in-law, Carol Haught of Moundsville, WV, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 4PM to 7 PM at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. A private celebration of Matt’s life will be held at the convenience of the family with good friend, The Rev. Dr. Matthew R. Scott, Vicar of Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, Warren, PA, officiating.
