Mary L. Pasquerette Zaffino, 84, of Pleasant Township, Warren, PA., died Tuesday evening, November 16, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born December 1, 1936, in Warren, PA. Mary was the daughter of William and Yolanda Brindis Pasquerette. She was a lifelong Warren area resident. Mary was a graduate of Warren High School Class of 1954. She earned her certificate of nursing from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1957. Mary was employed at Warren General Hospital from 1957 to 1967, and the former Brennan Root Nursing Home. She was head of the transportation service for Children’s Services for 5 years and enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels. She had served on the Warren County Unit of the American Cancer Society Board of Directors from 1995-2001. She was chairman of the Door- to- Door Campaign from 1995 to 1998 and had collected for that campaign since 1967. She was an active member at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church and involved in the church, Cursillo movement where she held 2 offices. She also worked on the church census, building fund and their stewardship campaign. Mary had served as a Eucharistic Minister for nursing home patients, served as a prayer partner for many students getting ready for the rite of confirmation and was on the church prayer chain. She was also instrumental for sending out bereavement booklets and sympathy cards to church members. Mary was instrumental in bringing to Warren, Make a Difference Day, and the opening of the Warren Area Student Union. She was very good at organizing any project and always accepted a challenge. Mary’s family remembers their mother as a dedicated, giving person who loved her family and her dogs passionately. She also loved to help people and volunteer her time. She was never one that waited to be asked to help. If she saw a need for help, she stepped right in. Mary had a big heart and a spirit that gave constantly to others. She was known for her love of cooking and baking. Her spaghetti sauce, pistachio bread, Christmas cookies, fruitcake and most of all, her canned peppers were enjoyed by many.

Mary is survived by her 3 children, Julie Z. Allen and husband, Daniel of Fredericksburg, VA., Thomas Zaffino of Warren, PA., Mark Zaffino and wife, Melody of Russell, PA., 4 Grandchildren – Benjamin William Allen, Kylie Eve Allen, Gabrielle Cummings-Parker and husband, Colton, and Morgan Roseanne Zaffino, 4 Great Grandchildren, Elijah Daniel Long, Caysen Spencer Long, Copelan Ford Parker, Ranger Jerry James Parker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Zaffino.

Mary’s family will receive friends, on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Church gathering space, 11 Russell Street, Warren, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Stephen Schreiber, Pastor, officiating, assisted by Deacon Raymond Wiehagen. Face masks and 6 -foot social distancing will be required. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
