Marlene E. Avery, 88, of Starbrick, PA, passed away early Thursday morning January 15, 2026, in the Rouse Home after a brief illness.
She was born in Ridgway, PA, on August 6, 1937, the daughter of the late Francis LeRoy and Ruth Johnson Kemmer. Marlene was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1955. She spent much of her life as a stay-at-home mom and later served as Banquet Director at the Holiday Inn of Warren. She and her husband enjoyed spending winters at their 2nd home in Panama City Beach, Florida.
She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church, Kinzua Car Club, and was a Warren Lioness. She was an avid bowler and a member of the 600 Club many times over.
On September 9, 1961, she married Duane Avery in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in Ridgway, PA, and they spent 50 loving years together before he died on February 23, 2012.
Surviving are her daughters Lisa Mack of Panama City Beach, FL; and Chris Morrison and husband Bruce of Pittsfield, PA; four grandchildren, Lea Mack, Bobby Mack and (Dana), Allen Mack and wife Catherine all of Florida, and Corvette Morrison Knopf and husband Ryan of Warren, PA; as well as many great grandchildren.
She is further survived by her sister, Avis Nass and husband Bill of Girard, PA; brother, Mervyn Kemmer and wife Jan of Kersey, PA; and a brother-in-law Max Avery of Ridgway, PA.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marlene was preceded in death by her sister, Yvonne Poage.
Family will receive friends on Sunday January 18, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc., 304 East Street Warren, PA. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with the Rev. William R. Beatty, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Private burial will be in Oakmont Cemetery, Ridgway, PA. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials to be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Ave. E. Warren PA 16365.
