Mamie Scalise Spear, 92, of Warren, PA, passed away on Saturday morning, May 23, 2020, at the home of her son in Highland Heights, OH.
Born March 4, 1928 in Warren, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Frances Scalise. Mamie had lived in Warren for most of her life. She had been employed at Blair Corp. for 28 years in the Correspondence Dept. and had been an active member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church. Upon retirement, she loved to stay busy by volunteering, gardening, knitting, playing cards, and baking cookies. She enjoyed her friends at the Allegheny Community Center and the Warren Bocce Club, and she loved to watch her grandchildren’s activities, including sports.
She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Ann Zehender and her husband, David, of Midlothian, VA, and her son Thomas Michael Spear and his wife, Theresa, of Highland Heights, OH; and 5 grandchildren – Nicholas (Amy) and Laura Zehender, and Charley, Carey (Vanessa), and Colin Spear, 1 great granddaughter – Rebecca Zehender, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Paul Spear, whom she married on July 1, 1950, in Youngsville, PA, and who died on March 22, 1981; 3 brothers – Richard Scalise, James Scalise, and Anthony Scalise, Jr.; and 1 sister – Marie Cole,
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at the convenience of the family at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell St., Warren, PA, with Fr. Stephen Schreiber, Pastor, officiating.
