Joseph E. Goldthwaite, 74, of Sheffield, PA. died Monday evening, December 22, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 30, 1940 at his home in Sheffield, PA. He was the son of Robert E. and Pearl Bloss Goldthwaite. He was a 1958 graduate of Sheffield High School and served with the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War as a Lance Corporal. He was a graduate of Bryant & Stratton College of Buffalo, N.Y. and Tri State (now known as Trine) where he earned his accounting degree. He was employed as an accountant with Carolina Freight Company and retired in 2002 from Petrex, Inc. of Warren, PA. He was confirmed in the Catholic Church in 1997 and a member of St. Anthony’s of Padua R.C. Church. He served as a Hospitality Minister and Eucharistic Minister. After his retirement he was an avid golf enthusiast and was fortunate enough to acquire a Hole in One. He enjoyed bowling, hunting with his sons, snowmobiling, camping and boating.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary “Linda” Lee Goldthwaite, whom he married at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Warren, PA. on April 10, 1965, 2 Sons – Joseph E. Goldthwaite, Jr. and wife, Kellie of Warren, PA., Robert L. Goldthwaite and wife, Danielle of Sheffield, PA., 3 Brothers – Robert “Bud” Goldthwaite and wife, Irene of Chicago, IL., Lee Goldthwaite and wife, Rita and Kenny Goldthwaite and wife, Daphne, all of Sheffield, PA. 6 Grandchildren – Austin, Hunter, Ian, Alexis, Makenna, Audree Goldthwaite, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Miller.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. Friday, December 26, 2014 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 P.M. where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:45 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph R.C. Church with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating. A committal service will be conducted at St. Michael’s R.C. Cemetery, Sheffield, PA. at 1:00 P.M. Saturday where full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corp. funeral personnel and the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W. members.
