Joan Harrison, 83, of Lake Worth, Florida and formerly of Warren, PA., died Sunday, September 10, 2023, at her residence with her brother at her side.
She was born May 28, 1940, in Warren, PA. Joan was the daughter of Richard W. and Barbara Morrison Harrison. She was a 1958 graduate of Warren High School. She was employed with Penelec as head dispatcher for many years, retiring from there. She had previously been employed with Gaughn’s Drug Store as a clerk. Joan summered at Blue Water Beach, Barcelona, N.Y. and then wintered in Lake Worth, Florida. She was a former member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, helped with their 50/50 raffles. She was a 50+ year member of Sweet Adelines, a member of Women of Note of South Florida. She enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, and playing cards at the Senior Center.
Joan is survived by her brother, Alexander J. “Al” Harrison of Warren, PA., several nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 Sisters – Barbara Lou Harrison, Patricia Cummings, Mary Ann Hughes, Rita Marie Highhouse, 1 Brother – Richard Harrison, a sister-in-law, Carol Harrison, 2 brothers-in-law, Louis Cummings, Edward J. Hughes.
Friends may call at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA., on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon when a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at Noon with Fr. Richard Tomasone, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
