Jean E. Kondak, 87, of Warren, PA., died Wednesday afternoon, June 14, 2023, after an extended illness. She was born October 9, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA. Jean was the daughter of George and Lucille Schmidt Mostert. Jean was a lifelong Warren area resident. She was a 1953 graduate of Warren High School. She was employed as a secretary at Warren High School and quit to start raising her family. After her family was raised, she went to work to help her son and daughter-in-law, at Kondak Markets as a clerk, catering, and office worker. She had also worked with Bev Schuler at Bev’s Craft Shop. Jean was an active member at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, where she was a religious education teacher, and eucharistic minister. Jean was an accomplished seamstress, sewing numerous wedding dresses. Her family remembers her as a woman, who loved being a wife, mother, grandmother-who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her family when they were younger and in retirement with her husband, Al.
Jean is survived by her 4 children – Lynn Reiling and husband, Ken, Daniel Kondak and his companion, Laurie Pahnke, all of Eugene, OR., Doug Kondak and wife, Margarida of Homer, Alaska, Kurt Kondak and wife, Beth of Cherry Grove, PA., 3 Siblings – Janice Bailey and husband, Bill of Sarasota, FL., Steve Mostert and husband, Jules of Philadelphia, PA., Jodi Sigmund and husband, Steve of Warren, PA., 8 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Albert T. Kondak, whom she married April 7, 1956, at Holy Redeemer Church, who died February 6, 2017, a grandson – Patrick Kondak, a brother – Bill Mostert.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Friday, June 23, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell Street, Warren, PA., with Fr. Stephen Schreiber, Pastor, officiating.
