James “Jim” C. Confer, 80, of Lakeland, FL and formerly of Warren, PA. died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was born January 4, 1940 in Warren, PA. Jim was the son of the late Walter E. and Frances M. Chambers Confer. He was a lifelong Warren area resident, moving to Florida on July 1, 2019. He was a 1957 graduate of Warren Area High School. He was employed for 9 years with National Fuel Company and 37 years with the former National Forge Company, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, where he had served as a Eucharistic Minister, and served on Pastoral Council. He was a 4th degree member of the Warren Knights of Columbus and the Church of St. Patrick Knights of Columbus, Sarasota, FL, Warren Eagles Lodge, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing, traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and sports enthusiast, his favorite team being the Kansas City Chiefs.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol A. Piccirillo Confer whom he married June 6, 1959 at St. Luke’s R.C. Church, Youngsville, PA., 3 Children – Patti Wagner and husband, Mark of Lakeland, FL., Chris Confer and spouse, Judy O’Neill of New Port Ritchie, FL., Michele Bova and husband, Paul of Warren, PA., 2 Brothers – Richard L. Confer of Warren, PA., Edward L. Confer and wife, Ruth (Deedee) of Sarasota, FL., 5 Grandchildren – Jennifer Wagner Battisti, Mikael Wagner, Elizabeth Wagner Mollet, Kyler and Kasidee Bova, 3 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call in the gathering space of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell Street, Warren, PA., on Thursday, June 18, 2020 one hour prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Stephen Schreiber, Pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of the Ascension at St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
