Cynthia L. Simonsen, 61, of Russell, PA, died Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home, Warren, PA after an extended illness. She was born October 11, 1958 in Jamestown, NY to the late Raymond and Phyllis DeVore Simonsen. Cynthia was a Warren area resident most of her life and a 1976 graduate of Warren Area High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Gannon University and earned her massage therapy education from the University of Pittsburgh-Titusville Campus. She was employed as a Massage Therapist with Hospice of Warren County. She had previously worked with Lorangers International, Struthers Wells Corporation, Trucklite and Jamestown Community College. She was a member of Emmanuel Church of Christ and their church choir. Most recently she was a member of Scandia Covenant Church. She was an avid reader, animal lover, gardener, enjoyed arts, crafts, cooking, baking, raising chickens, and helping people in the community.
She is survived by her brother, James Simonsen of Sheffield, PA, 2 nieces and her dog, Moon.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Lisa Simonsen and her dog, Rex.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 1:00P.M. at Scandia Covenant Church, with Rev. Aaron Reinard, lead pastor and Rev. Marcus Briggs, retired minister, co-officiating. I extend my heartfelt sympathy, to Cynthia’s family & friends. What a gentle soul she was. I worked with her at Hospice and she was my mother’s caregiver. Her caring and loving ways touched so many lifes. It was an honor and privilege to know her and to work with her. Heaven now has another angel. Goodbye my friend.
We are deeply saddened by Cynthia’s passing and send our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. My husband, Rod, truly enjoyed working with her at Loranger International, and I was blessed to know her through the Warren Art League. She was remarkably kind and compassionate. Years ago she gifted us a Christmas ornament that she had made of Christ on the Cross. We have always treasured it and will even more this year. It truly reflected her faith not only in God but in the better angels in all of us. She truly touched all of us who were privileged to know her.
