Betty “B.J.” J. Uplinger, 83, of Warren, PA. died Friday afternoon, December 2, 2011 at her residence after an illness of the past 4 months. She was born August 30, 1928 in Ludlow, PA. to the late Rev. Morris L. and Sarah Messler Overbeck. She was from the Warren and Ludlow areas resident her entire life. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Ludlow High School and was employed in the Jewelry Dept. for 10 years at the former Jamesway Dept. Store and retired from K-Mart after 16 years service. She was a member of the Warren Assembly of God Church. She was an avid cook. Betty always put her family first and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She is survived by her children – Candice Gerych and husband, David of Bath, N.Y., Curt Uplinger of Warren, PA., Craig Uplinger and wife, Jenny` of Eatontown, N.J., Tina Phillips of Warren, PA., 2 Sisters – Shirley Farrell of Ludlow, PA., Alice Cochran of Sheffield, PA., 2 Brothers – Morris Overbeck and wife, Bobby of Sheffield, PA., Harry Overbeck of Sheffield, PA., 7 Grandchildren – Colby Uplinger, Stevie Samuelson, Emily Warner, Craig Uplinger, Mackenzie Uplinger, Christopher Phillip, Taylor Phillip, 2 Step Grandsons Cameron and Adreaus Jones, several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis H. Uplinger whom she married August 9, 1952 in Ludlow, PA., 2 Brothers – Leroy “Skip” and William Overbeck.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Monday from 6 to 8 P.M. where a funeral and committal service will be conducted Monday evening at 8:00 P.M. with Rev. Frank Lanza, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Gibbs Hill Cemetery, Ludlow, PA.
