Anna B. Clifton, 91, of Warren, PA, died Monday, January 23, 2017, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Warren, PA. Born on November 3, 1925 in West Babylon, NY, Anna was the daughter of the late Henry and Charlotte Nee Heil. On August 18, 1946, she married Ben G. Clifton, who died on September 29, 1987. Anna was a graduate of Babylon High School, Long Island, NY; earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at Edinboro State University in 1969; and graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1971 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She was employed with the Sherwood Refining Company, United Refining Company, and the U.S. Forest Service. In her professional career she was employed with the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare; Warren State Hospital; and with the Polk County, FL, School District as a substitute teacher. She loved to travel, and one of her favorite trips was bicycling across Europe in her retirement years. She loved gardening and surrounded her home with flowers. She hiked with the Allegheny Outdoor Club and served in the Starbrick Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Anna is survived by several nieces and nephews and was very close to her nephew, Ned Bean, of Lancaster, PA. She is also survived by special friend, Grace Zerbe Wright of Warren, PA. At Anna’s request there will be no visitation or formal services. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
