George Ziki, 93, of N. Warren, Pa., died Tuesday evening, October 4, 2011 at Golden LivingKinzua after a brief illness. He was born March 13, 1918 in Sheffield, Pa., to the late Fred and Anastasia Bleech Ziki. He has resided in Warren since 1946 and was formerly of Ridgway, Pa. George was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army as a Corporal, earning an Atlantic Theatre Operations Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He retired from the former G.T.E. Sylvania after many years service. He was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church. He loved his dog, Sadie. He is survived by his wife, Julia M. Connolly Ziki whom he married June 11, 1976 in Warren, Pa., 2 sisters Pauline Wolfe and husband, Donald of Ventura, Ca., Irene Weiss and husband, William of Hamburg, NY, 1 brother Fred Ziki and wife, Shirley of Fort Walton Beach, Fl., several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters Anna Mihalko, Mary Ziki, Olga Bouchard, 2 brothers Stephen and Michael Ziki. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Joseph R.C. Church on Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Richard Toohey, Pastor, officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the mass. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of the Ascension in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by members of the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W.
