Wyllis W. “Will” Mead, Jr., 90, of Warren, PA., died Wednesday afternoon, August 11, 2021, at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice Home, Warren, PA.

He was born November 23, 1930, at his home in Stoneham, PA. He was the son of Wyllis W. and Alice Johnson Mead, Sr. Will was a longtime Warren area resident and a 1948 graduate of Warren High School. He had served with the U.S. Army as a Sergeant. He was employed with the former G.T.E. Sylvania, now known as Verizon for 36 years, retiring in July of 1986 as procurement manager. Will was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a former member of Epworth United Methodist Church where he was an active member in numerous activities.

Will was the oldest member of the Kalbfus Rod & Gun Club where he was a member since 1955. Former member of the Circle 8 Square Dancing Group. He was a master woodworker, building numerous cherry wood furniture and award-winning sectional bowls.

Wyllis is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carol Stewart Mead whom he married October 28, 1950, at Warren, PA., 4 Children – Dan Mead and wife, Wendy of State College, PA., Jeff Mead of Warren, PA., James Mead and wife, Peg of Corry, PA., Carolyn Fry and husband, Corky of Warren, PA.,

1 Sister – Sandy Reynolds of Englewood, FL., 8 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, several nieces also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Mead, a grandson, Eric Mead, 1 sister – Pat Yeagle, his father and mother-in-law, Pete and Marion Stewart. A private funeral service will be conducted at the convenience of the family with Rev. William Beatty, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
