William E. “Bill” McKendree, Jr., 54, of Warren, PA, died Tuesday, March 07, 2017, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born on November 16, 1962 in Warren, PA, he was the son of William E. McKendree, Sr., and Blanche Hayes McKendree. Bill was a truck driver for Advance Disposal and had worked at Betts Industries for many years. He was known as “Uncle Bill” to many as he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. He enjoyed building models, camping, traveling, going on picnics and just taking a drive.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jaquelynn McKendree, whom he married on July 21, 2015. He is also survived by his mother, Blanche Irwin of Sheffield, PA, 2 Sons – Travis Barnett and his fiancé Brittany Schultz, of Warren, PA, and Ryan McKendree of Warren, PA; 2 step children – Justin (Misty Haight) Phillips of Warren, PA, and Erika (Cory) Blake, of Warren, PA; 4 Grandchildren – Josiah, Delilah, Taylor, and Elliott, 1 Brother – Willis Hayes and his wife, Darla, of Jamestown, NY; 2 Sisters – Lucy Rudolph and her husband, Jim, of Sheffield, PA, and Tammy Colburn and her husband, Rick, of Warren, PA, his dog, Elsa Marie, and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his father, his step-father, Larry Irwin, a grandson, Elijah Barnett, a sister, Bobbie Handy, and a nephew, Willis Hayes III.
Friends may call from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Friday, March 10, 2017, at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday with Rev. Terry A. Teluch officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA. A luncheon will follow at the Sheffield United Methodist Church. I’m sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. Until my retirement last summer, I ran the scale at the Chautauqua County Landfill. It was always a pleasure to see Bill pull up on the scale. He was so upbeat and friendly. Always with a kind word and a hearty laugh. He was one of my favorite drivers. My thoughts are with you all.
