It was with a great deal of regret that I learned of Vergil’s passing. I worked with him in the carpenter’s shop at United Refining for a time, and he was much fun, but also a very smart man, and a hard worker. It was a pleasure to become friends with Vergil and remain friends even after I left URC, Rest in peace,my friend, you have labored hard.
Vergil was a great guy and brother in law. He loved his family. He will be missed but us together again with his wife and son.
We will carry our cherished memories and love of Uncle Vergil forever. We love you all so much and hope your peaceful memories can surround you and help you heal during this difficult time. -Your Lord Family
I’m so sorry to hear of Vergil’s passing. I got to know him when I worked for United Refining. Vergil was at that time, I believe, Head Carpenter. A handful of guys including Vergil and me gathered in the morning in the Steam Trap Repair Shop before starting our workday. It was a convivial setting and Vergil, of course, helped make it that way. He shared many hunting and outdoor stories that he and his friend Ralph Peterson experienced. Always fun and interesting and it was always such a great way to start the working day. I send along my condolences to all of Vergil’s family and friends. Gone, but never forgotten!
Verg and I learned the carpentry trade at Milton Hershey. Although, I never saw Verg again after June 7th 1965[ graduation day]; our paths in life seem to be very similar. Verg was an excellent carpentry student. We learnes the trade from Robert Schelhorn, aka “Boss”. We both loved Boss. He was a great and very talented mentor. My sincere condolences to Verg’s family.
