Sara Mae Sanford, 85, of Youngsville, Pa., died peacefully in her sleep, Thursday, January 30, 2020 at her home. She was born
April 21, 1934 in Hillsdale, PA., to the late Merle and Pearl McMillen Fleming. Sara Mae was a longtime resident of Youngsville. She was a 1952 graduate of Warren High School. She along with her husband, were former owner/operator of the Sanford Christmas Tree Farm in Youngsville from 1964 to 1997. She had been employed with the former Warren Bank and Trust. Sara Mae served on the following for many years, the Warren County 4-H Livestock Sale Committee, Youngsville Library Association, Warren County Association of Elected Officials, served as an auditor with Brokenstraw Township and the Warren High School Class Reunion Committee. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, eating out and doing handicrafts.
Sara Mae is survived by her 2 children, Paul D. Sanford and wife, Vivian of Youngsville, PA., Pam Baker and husband, Joe of Dunn’s Eddy, Youngsville, PA., 5 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert “Gib” L. Sanford whom she married in 1955 in Youngsville, PA., who died Saturday, January 31, 2015, 1 Sister – Martha Jane Meachan.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 1 to 2 P.M. followed by a funeral and committal service at 2:00 P.M with Rev. Rick Hemrick, Pastor of Youngsville Free Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sanford Cemetery. Those wishing to place memorials may do so through American Red Cross.
