Ruth F. Derrick, 92, Russell, PA, died Friday, April 24, 2015 at
Warren Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Ulysses, PA on
October 5, 1922 to the late Leon and Ellen Greene Spencer.
Ruth has resided in Russell, PA since 1993 moving there from
Warren, PA and was a former resident of Bradford, PA, Mayville,
NY, and Carrabelle, FL. She was employed with the former Speer
Resistor located in Bradford, PA working in the Quality Control
Department. Ruth was a member of the East End Presbyterian
Church of Bradford, PA. Ruth enjoyed crocheting and reading.
She is survived by her daughter – Dawn Higgins-Ford, and her
husband, Gary A., of Bear Lake, PA, 1 Granddaughter – Michelle
Lynn Smith and her husband, Ivan of Russell, Pa.
1 Great Granddaughter – Tequila Corbley of Falconer, N.Y., 1
Great Grandson – Ivan Smith, III of Russell, Pa., 1 Great Great
Granddaughter – Angela Harding and 1 Great Great Grandson –
Ryan Harding both of Falconer, N.Y.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Francis M. “Fran” Derrick whom she married July 25,
1941 in Ulysses, PA, who died August 28, 1998, 1 Grandson –
Martin Higgins, 1 Son -in-law, Kenneth Higgins, 2 Sisters – Agnes
Brown, Esther Oridway, 3 Brothers – Alfred, Charles and Walter
Spencer.
Friends will be received at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home,
Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from
10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. when a funeral and committal service
will be conducted by Rev. Kenneth Morris, Pastor of Wrightsville
Community Church.
Interment will be in McKean Memorial Park, Mt. Alton, Pa.

Ruth ( Nanny Derrick ) was as an extrordinary woman. She was sweet, generous and loving. There are so many memories to hold near our hearts. She was very loved and will be missed.

Wanted to say good-bye to Aunt Ruth. I will miss hearing her voice on the other end of the telephone. I would ask her how she was doing and she would say well I´m doing. You may be gone but Doreen and I will always love you. Say hi to gram. Love Bill and Doreen.
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. We were out of town and didn’t know until we got back. We always had fun when we was her at K-Mart shopping or in the snack bar.
