Richard T. Long
Richard T. Long, 68, of Warren, PA. died Wednesday morning, December 12, 2012 at the Warren Manor Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was born April 14, 1944 in Kittanning, PA. to the late Geraldine Wingard Kerns. Richard was a resident of Warren since 1971 and formerly of Kane, PA. He graduated in 1962 from Kane High School and completed his licensure for insurance after his duties in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a Sergeant, serving in the Vietnam War, serving in Turkey and Istanbul. He was employed with the former Beneficial Finance as manager for many years. He had also worked with Northwest Savings Bank, sold cars for Jones Chevrolet, Humes of Corry, PA., Ed Shultz Nissan of Jamestown, N.Y. He was a member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, Warren Knights of Columbus Council where he was former Treasurer and sold their membership insurance. He was an avid fisherman, National Rifle Association, was a huge Greenbay Packers fan, enjoyed Nascar Races especially Mark Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marie Rambish Long whom he married at St. Anthony’s Church, Sheffield, PA., 2 Daughters – Carrie Steber and husband, Brian of Lewistown, PA., Sherri Burlingame of Warren, PA., 2 Sisters – Barbara Woll and husband, Michael of Kane, PA., Carol Mumau and husband, Ralph of Lakeland, FL., 2 Grandson – Nathan Steber and Madisyn Steber, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother – James Long. Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday, December 15, 2012, 10 A.M. at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church with Fr. James Gutting, Pastor, officiating, assisted by Deacon Joseph Lucia. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of the Ascension in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by members of the John Gertsch Memorial Vietnam Post and the U.S. Airforce Funeral Personnel. I just wanted to send you my deepest sympathies. I just recently met you when you did my hair for me when I was in Warren for my father’s funeral.( Bill Miller) I know what you are going through with such a sudden loss and at this time of the year.
