Richard “Dick” Sowa, 83, of Warren, PA., loving husband, father
and grandfather died peacefully with his wife at his side,
Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Cambridge Warren. He was born
August 23, 1932 in Torpedo, PA. He was a 1950 graduate of
Youngsville High School and had served with the U.S. Army
from October 21, 1953 until October 20, 1955. He earned his
Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Rochester
while working for 30 years with Eastman Kodak as a
manager/supervisor. He retired from Sherwin-Williams after 4
years employment in 1990.
Dick had resided in Rochester, N.Y. for 14 years and in Loveland,
Colorado for 23 years.
He enjoyed hiking and was an avid fisherman. He adored and
loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a man of
very strong faith and conviction.
He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Mary Yarzabek
Sowa whom he married May 24, 2003 at St. Joseph R.C. Church,
Warren, PA., 5 Children – Kathy Birdsall and husband, Mark of
Topeka, Kansas, Rick Sowa of Midvale, Utah, William Sowa and
wife, Cindy of Simsbury, Connecticut, Ellen Smith and husband,
Eric of West Jordan, Utah, Adam Sowa and wife, Amy of
Springfield, VA., 1 Brother – Donald Sowa of Youngsville, PA., 25
Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews
also survive.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, John and Suzanne
Paylo Sowa, 1st wife, Cordelia Dunkle Sowa, 1 Brother – Joseph
Sowa.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304
East Street, Warren, PA., on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 6 to 8
P.M. where a vigil service will be conducted at 5:45 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Monday, December
7, 2015 at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West,
Warren, PA., at 10:00 A.M., with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor,
officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of the
Ascension in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery. Those wishing to place

Please forgive the time delay for this comment. I worked with Dick at Eastman Kodak in Windsor Colorado. He was a very dedicated administrator. Aside from work Dick and I enjoyed bowling on the same team in Loveland, CO. He was a lot of fun and enjoyed bowling very much. I have thought of Dick often over the years. He was a good man.
