Richard C. “Rik” Broxton, Jr., 63, of Warren, PA., died peacefully surrounded by his family, at his residence, Thursday evening, April 22, 2021 after an extended illness. He was born December 2, 1957. He is the son of Richard “Dick” C. and Mary Alice White Broxton, Sr. of Clarks Green, PA.
He was a longtime Warren area resident. Rik was a 1978 graduate of Warren Area High School. He was a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corp, serving in the Desert Storm War. He retired from the military after serving for 20 years in May, 1997. He had worked at the former National Forge Company, Warren Autozone and Warren Dollar General. He was an avid hunter and was looking forward to fishing this year. Rik enjoyed working on his 1970 Torino and 1969 Ford Truck.
In addition to his parents, he wis survived by his wife, Judy Peterson Broxton whom he married May 30, 1981 in Scandia, PA., 4 Children –
Erin Shenk and companion, Dave Edwards of Warren, PA., Ben Broxton, Allison Helms and husband, D.J. all of Wheeling, W.V., Nat Broxton of Warren, PA., 1 Brother – Brian Broxton of Milford, PA. , 2 Sisters – Kim McMichael of Warren, PA., Jen Krist and husband, Alex of Mt. Cobb, PA
8 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jim McMichael.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. where CDC guidelines of mask and six feet social distancing will be required. A funeral service will be conducted there Monday at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery Veterans Section where full military honors will be conducted by members of the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W. & Warren American Legion Post 135 Funeral Honor Guard and members of the Marine Corp Funeral Detail. Judy, we are so very sorry for your loss of Rik!!! I have enjoyed several conversations with Rik since you guys moved back into the area. I had no idea that Rik was ill. We were good friends in high school and I will miss him!!!
