Raymond C. “Butch” Nelson, Jr., of Warren, PA, passed away from this life on Monday, July 13, 2015 from a brief illness of cancer. Born on January 19, 1945 in Warren, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond C. Nelson, Sr. and Kathryn Hansen Nelson. Butch loved to play the lead guitar in many bands throughout his life. He loved to fish, especially the tail waters of the Kinzua Dam. He was also an avid hunter. Every Sunday during race season he could be found watching NASCAR, rooting for Dale, Jr. Butch worked at PDM for many years and helped in building the St. Louis Arch. He is known for his cement contracting work, all around the area. What he will best be remembered for is his cooking. Whatever he made it was awesome, whether it was chickens, pork loins, clam chowder, leek sausage and dips, or just an ordinary dinner. Butch was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the American Legion Post 135, the Clarendon Vets Club and a past member of the Warren Moose Lodge 109 and Warren Eagles Aerie. Butch is survived by his wife, Lucille Ann Lefebvre Nelson, whom he married in June of 1967 in California, their only child, Carla (Nick) Johnson) of Warren, PA, two grandchildren, Seth and Amanda Johnson, 2 sisters, Greta Porter and Sharon Wingard, both of Warren, PA, 2 brothers, Bruce (Debbie) Nelson of Warren, PA and Greg (Donna) Nelson of Warren, PA, and many nieces and nephews. 6-8pm on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Jon Swart, Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church, Warren, PA, officiating. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park. Sadly missed, was a very good friend, had many enjoyable years playing music together. I was happy to be able to enjoy part of his life with him. He was an inspiration for me to keep playing 50s & 60’s music. Felt blessed to spend some special time with him right before his journey home. Thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones.
