M. Eugene “Peanut” O’Neill, 79, of Warren, Pa., died Thursday afternoon, October 6, 2011 at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa., after a brief illness. He was born September 22, 1932 in Warren, Pa., to the late John Malcolm and Greta Reynolds O’Neill. He was a lifelong resident of Warren and a 1952 graduate of Warren High School. He had served with the U.S. Navy as an airman from May 7, 1952 until July 20, 1953. Peanut was employed as a truck driver with Crossett Trucking for 32 years retiring in 1996. He was previously employed with the former Penn Furnace Co. and Walker Dairy. After retirement he was employed as transportation manager at Blueberry Golf Course and was a delivery man for Ekey Florist. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of Stillwater Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32nd degree mason, member of the Coudersport Consistory, Elk Co. Shrine Club, Zem Zem Temple, Warren Elks Lodge, Warren Eagles, Jamestown Vikings Club, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Pine Grove Sportsmen Club, Warren Bocce, was a former Boyscout Leader, volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 15 years. He was an avid hunter and Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed being a grandfather and greatgrandfather. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Gorton O’Neill whom he married July 27, 1956 in Warren, Pa.; 3 children Kathy Bimber, Perry O’Neill and wife, Kelly, N. Karen Lyle and husband, Steven all of Warren, Pa.; 1 sister Betty Lou Wisler and husband, Clair of Gerry, NY, 1 aunt Betty Randolph of Warren, Pa.; 5 grandchildren Courtney Pierce and husband, Victor of Elgin, Ill., John A. Bimber and wife, Yanina of Lewes, Delaware, Patrick O’Neill of Harrisonburg, Va., Nathaniel Lyle and wife, Denise of Jacksonville, Fl., Greta Gardner and husband, Stephen of Williamsburg, Va., 2 greatgrandchildren Ava Pierce of Elgin, Ill., and Reily Lyle of Jacksonville, Fl., several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother Beverly Hanson O’Neill, 2 brothers John (Jack) O’Neill, Edward O’Neill; 1 son-in-law, John W. Bimber; an infant sister, Nancy Karen O’Neill. Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, Pa. on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Members of the Warren Elks Lodge will conduct their funeral ritual at the funeral home, Sunday at 5:45 p.m. and the Stillwater Masonic Lodge will conduct their funeral ritual at 6 p.m. A funeral and committal service will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Rev. Jeffrey Sterling, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
