Carmen was known for his genuine laugh and outreach to anyone who needed anything. Graduating with him and staying in touch all these years has been special beyond words and amazing for our class of 1966. My deepest sympathy to Sue, his children and grandchildren. I shot many rounds of trap and skeet with Carmen at the Kalbfus Club and found him to be one of the nicest people I’d ever met. He always smiled, had an infectious laugh and was just down right kind. Although I’ve not seen him since those days – I never forgot him and his name never left me. Kind guys like Carmen are, literally, one in a million.
My condolences to the family. I came to know Carmen while working at WGH. I always appreciated his kindness and positive attitude.
Carol and I send Carmen’s family our sincere condolences. I met Carmen when we were driving together at Watkins Glen. He was a great friend and fun to talk with. We spent many days and evenings together traveling to Watkins Glen and Pittsburgh Raceway and talking about cars. We shared a garage together with Peter Hoffmann and I was just blown away when I heard he had passed. He had just visited me at my office in October. I will miss Carmen, his wit and his friendship.
Good-Bye Carmen, and Rest In Peace! I admired and appreciated your open, honest, down-to-earth, quality as Warren State CEO. You were always easy to talk to and pleasant to talk with. As your former DPW-OMHSAS Hospital Rep, while we frequently had difficult issues to address; you made it easy to work with you. I enjoyed your stories about learning to drive and handle a race car, and growing up in Kane, where my in-laws had a cabin for years! You were always the gentleman and will be thought of both highly and fondly by many, including those of us from “the big house in Harrisburg”!
I had the pleasure of working with Carmen in different capacities over a 20 year period. Foremost he was a man of integrity matched only by how much he cared for people – especially those in need. He was an outstanding leader who cared about the clients at WSH, the staff and knew them all by name which was rare for a CEO. His community will miss him because he was a true son of not just Warren County but many surrounding counties. And to his family – You should be very proud of Carmen and the gifts he gave to humanity. I hope your pain eases over time and you remember how kind he was. RIP Carmen.
RIP Carmen. You will surely be missed by many. A true gentleman, Proud to call you my friend. Harold Wilkins
