Joyce E. Rapp Bennett, 88, of Warren, PA., died Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017 at Warren Manor Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born December 15, 1928 in Warren, PA., to the late Floyd and Mary Streit Rapp. Joyce was a Warren area resident her entire life. After high school she had been employed as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone, and had been employed with the former New Process Company and in the office of the former Struthers Wells Corporation. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Warren Senior Center, and Order of the Amaranth. One of Joyce’s greatest joys in life were spending time with her grandchildren and going out for dinner.
She is survived by her three children – Bonnie Russo and husband, Jayme of Youngsville, PA., Gordon “Boonie” Bennett, Jr., and Bryan F. Bennett both of Warren, PA., 9 Grandchildren – Jessica, Megan, Craig, Kayle, Abi, Ryder, Seger, Seneca and Riviera, several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Gordon “Smokey” Bennett, who died January 24, 2000, whom she married March 28, 1953 in Erie, PA., 1 infant daughter, Rebecca Bennett, 1 Sister – Betty Rapp Kaczar.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 1 to 4 P.M. when a funeral and committal service will be conducted with Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, Pastor, officiating.
