Joan R. Loree, 85, of Warren, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at The Rouse Home in Youngsville, PA. Born on June 21, 1933 in Venango County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Scott and Opal McGinnis Rote. Joan graduated as valedictorian of her class from Cranberry High School in Venango County. She was formerly employed with Pennzoil Oil Co. and along with her first husband, Robert Thomas, was co-owner of Cunningham’s Restaurant in Warren from 1955-1974. Joan was an active and faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Warren where she served as financial secretary for several years, was a member of the quilting workshop, Bell Choir, a worship assistant and had served as a communion steward. Joan loved to garden, quilt, and canoe on the river. She enjoyed her family, many friends and especially her grandchildren and attending their events. Joan was proud of being one of the first women in Warren County to donate 100 pints of blood to the American Red Cross. She was also proud to have won multiple ribbons at the Warren County Fair for her apple pie and quilting.
Joan is survived by two daughters – Amy Bathurst and husband, Tim, of Philadelphia, PA, Lilly Suppa and husband, Michael, of Warren, PA; two sons – Tom Loree and wife, Stacy, and Jim Loree and wife, Brenda, all of Warren, PA; seven grandchildren – Jason, Jake, Rachel, David, Sam, Evan and Griffin; three great-grandchildren – Westyn, Ava, and Ryker; a brother-in-law – Seymour Collins of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Thomas, whom she married in August of 1953 and who passed away in July of 1974; her second husband, Ralph “Bucko” Loree, whom she married in 1984 and who passed away in April of 2018; one brother – James Rote and his wife, Mary; and two sisters – Mary Gulick and her husband, William, and Virginia Collins.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, from 5-8p.m. Additional visitation will be held at First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Avenue, Warren, PA, on Thursday from 10-11a.m. at which time a funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
