James C. “Jim” Adams, 79, of Warren, PA, died peacefully with his family by his side Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA following a stroke.
Jim was born July 15, 1942 in Franklin, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Thomas H. and Marie J. (Cavett) Adams. Jim was a graduate of John Marshall High School class of 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio where he enjoyed playing the trumpet in the marching band and dating Martha E. Steward, a band majorette. On August 24, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart at Christ United Methodist Church, Cleveland, Ohio. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1969 and his Master of Business Administration in 1979 from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. In high school and throughout college, he worked at A&P Grocery Stores. After college, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant in Cleveland. Jim and his family moved to Warren, PA and spent the next 42 years making a home and life in the area. He worked and retired as an internal auditor/accountant with United Refining Company of Warren. Jim loved spending time with his family and his cat Chamberlein. He enjoyed model trains, playing baseball as a kid and was an avid sports fan rooting for the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. He also took great pleasure in traveling and volunteering his time at Warren General Hospital in the Imaging Department. Jim was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church. Always a fan of numbers, he retired from work on 11/11/2011 and his funeral is 2/22/2022. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his two loving daughters: Shari Adams, Richmond, VA, and Karen Adams Trapasso and husband Andrew, of Dewitt, NY; one granddaughter Ava Elizabeth Trapasso; Nieces and nephews: Oma Jane Adams Flener and husband Steve of Hartford, KY, Brenda Kay Adams Tucker and husband David, Bowling Green, KY, Cindy Sue Adams Boaz and husband Bryant of New Albany, IN, and Tommy Adams and wife Irene of Austin, KY, as well as nine great nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Martha of 58 years before her death in November 2021, and one brother, Daniel Thomas Adams and his wife Lilly.
Friends may call the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc., 304 East St. Warren, PA on Monday February 21, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00pm and on Tuesday February 22, 2022, at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Avenue East, Warren, PA. from 10:00 to 11:00am. A funeral and committal service will be conducted there on Tuesday at 11:00am with the Rev. Bill Beatty officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmstead, Ohio. Jim was someone you could always trust and count on. We were from the same neighborhood in Cleveland Ohio, West Park. We never knew each other then, but we both moved to Warren, where we worked together for years at United Refining Company.
