James August Cerra, 78, of Warren, PA., died Monday morning, October 26, 2020 at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa., after suffering from a fall at his home on Friday, October 23, 2020. He was born October 18, 1942 in Warren, PA., he was the son of August J. and Mary Gelotte Cerra. James was a 1960 graduate of Warren Area High School. He was a co-owner and operator of the former Mineral Well Restaurant with his parents and brothers.
He started the Waste Treatment Plant and sold insurance for American General Life Insurance Company. He currently was an independent sales representative for Action Supply. He had served with the U.S. Army in Germany as a Technical Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged on November 14, 1967. He was a member of the Warren Knights of Columbus and enjoyed bowling on their bowling league, where his team was league champions of the Lewis Funeral Home bowling team in 2017-2018 & 2018-2019. He accomplished one 300 perfect game in his lifetime.
Jim was also a member of the Warren Eagles Aerie, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed boating at Kinzua Dam with his family. His greatest joys in life were his time spent with his wife, family and his dog. He had an infectious sense of humor.
Jim is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kitty Schulz Cerra whom he married December 31, 1988, 2 Sons – Steffen Wilson and wife, Patti of Clarendon, PA., Donny Wilson and wife, Brandy of Warren, PA., 2 Brothers – Philip D. Cerra and wife, Donna of Clarendon, PA., Anthony R. Cerra and wife, Judy of Warren, PA., 5 Grandchildren – Stephanie (Kenneth) Sturdevant, Kyle (Christina) Wilson, Cole (Alyssa) Wilson, Tyler (Tori) Wilson, Josh (Nicole) Wilson, 5 Great Grandchildren, 2 Nieces and 2 Nephews, several cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dwayne E. and daughter-in-law, Heidi Kipp Wilson.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at the convenience of the family. Dear Kitty, and the whole Cerra family. Pam and I were heartbroken when we heard the news of Jim’s passing. We have so many good memories of Jim, and the good times we had with him, over the years. He was such a wonderful person. I know my mother will be waiting to take him in her arms, since she Loved him so much. I know it’s of little consultation, but I hope it is of some comfort, knowing he was loved, and will be missed by so many.
