Gregory A. Munch, 61, of Warren, PA., the son of Richard C. and Versal M. Wade Munch. He was born February 28, 1951. A devoted husband and father, he was a lifelong resident of Warren, PA. He graduated from Warren Area High School in 1969. He attended Robert Morris University and Graduated Cum Laude from Edinboro University with three bachelor degrees. He was involved in the field of social work most of his life, and was a good listener and friend to all whom hearts he touched. He had great faith in our Lord and was an avid participator in bible studies and education for continued spiritual growth.
Greg had many interests in his life. He loved the outdoors and was a runner participating in three marathons. Most recently, he enjoyed walking in the area around his home. He was an experienced sailor and sailed on the Kinzua Reservoir for years moving on to Presque Isle in Erie where he and his family and friends enjoyed the peaceful pleasure on destination sailing. was a fan of wrestling and followed college wresting, devoted to his almamater team – Edinboro University. He attended National Collegiate Wrestling Association Tournaments yearly with many close friends, and thoroughly enjoyed the comradery. He also loved to travel and was an avid reader. He was a Formula One Race Car Fan. A bird fancier and breeder, participating in many bird shows over the years, an interest he developed as a young boy and nurtured throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Mary Pace Munch, whom he married April 8, 1978. A daughter, Sarah Allana and a Son, Nathan David, both at home. A brother, Jeffrey L. Munch (Lynn Gustafson), three Sisters, Stephanie (Daniel) Russo, Wendy (Steve) Norris, Beth Munch (Fiance Jim Sturdevant), four Sister-in-laws, Raffaela Peck, Dora Cicchini, Antoinette (Michael) Durkin, Sylvia Larson, 1 Brother-in-law, Vincent (Charlene) Pace, two Aunts, Carol (John) Hanna and Elisabeth Evertsen, one Uncle, Ralph (Sue) Wade, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by several very close and loyal friends, especially Jim and Lisa Mechling, who were a very big part of his life and touched his heart deeply.
No visitation will be observed. Friends may call on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Pleasant Community Church from 10:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. when a memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Michael Poindexter, Pastor, officiating.
A luncheon will be held at the church directly following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of Warren County, 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA. 16365 or Pleasant Community Church Building Fund, 673 Pleasant Drive, Warren, PA. 16365 or the American Cancer Society, 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA. 16365 or a charity of one’s choice. The Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
