Genevieve M. Clark, 97, of Warren, PA, died Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Byron House Assisted Living Center in Potomac, MD with her family by her side. She was born June 14, 1918 in Warren, PA, to the late Peter and Mary Cecelia McNamara O’Brien. Genevieve was a 1936 graduate of Warren High School. She was a longtime Warren area resident and also formerly resided in both Connecticut and New Jersey. Genevieve had a number of jobs in Warren in her youth, including at Western Telegraph, Western Union, and The New Process Company. During World War II she worked at Hughes Aircraft in Niagara Falls, NY, where she helped to build P-39 fighter planes. Later in life, she served as the Registrar at Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey.

During her lifetime, Genevieve was an active member of both Holy Redeemer and St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic churches, serving on the Altar Societies of both parishes and the Parent Teacher Organization of St. Joseph’s. She was also a member of the Warren Historical Society and the Warren Genealogical Society. She was an avid reader and a master of crossword puzzles, and had a life-long interest in genealogy.

On April 19, 1947, she married John “Jack” McPherson Clark, her husband of 55 years, at Holy Redeemer Church. Jack died in Warren on August 14, 2002. She is survived by her four children, James P. Clark and his wife Margaret Parros Clark of Los Angeles, CA; Kathleen Clark McShane and her husband John McShane of Raleigh, NC; Kevin B. Clark and his wife Nancy Ripp Clark of Potomac, MD; and Karen Clark Petersen and her husband Bret Petersen of Rochester, MN; as well as thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Elaine Clark, who died in Warren on September 11, 1961, and seven older brothers and sisters, Francis, Mary, Lawrence, Peter, Sarah, Raymond and Robert. Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, on Sunday evening, August 9, 2015, from 6 and 8 P.M. and a vigil service will be held Sunday evening at 7:45 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell St., Warren, PA., on Monday, August 10, at 10:00 A.M., with Fr. James Gutting, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
