Fred Norman Highhouse, 85, of Starbrick, PA., died peacefully with his family at his bedside, Saturday morning, January 25, 2025, at his home. He was born September 7, 1939, in Warren, PA. He was the son of Norman and Helen Betts Highhouse. He was originally from Sheffield, PA., and was a 1957 graduate of Sheffield High School. He served with the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962, was honorably discharged with the rank of RD2. He was employed for 30 years as a foreman with Betts Industries, retiring in 2001. He loved the Lord and shared his faith in Jesus Christ. He loved teaching Sunday School and preaching the word of God. He was a lay preacher for 40 years in various churches throughout the county. He served at Emmanuel Baptist Church for 40 years. He was a member who attended and preached at Starbrick Community Church. He has gone to be with his Savior and family. He invited anyone who has not given their hearts and lives to Jesus to take this opportunity to do so now. He will be missed, but we have that blessed hope of seeing him in heaven someday.
He had a tremendous love for his family and friends. Loved dancing with his wife, planting flowers and singing in church. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, most of all with Samatha (Sami) Henry. He loved playing golf with his grandson Sean. He was a member of the Jackson Valley Tuesday Night Men’s League and the pinnacle of his golfing career, was to obtain a “Hole in One”
He enjoyed bowling and playing card games.
Fred is survived by the love of his life, Mary Jane Siliano Highhouse, whom he married March 11, 1972, in Warren, PA.,
Their children – Carol McMillen and Cathy Ostrom, grandchildren – Scott Brown, Sean Brown and wife, Heather, Austin Horner, Shane Horner, Kevin VanOrd, Matthew Henry, Wade Henry, Donny Ostrom, Christopher McMillen and wife, Tonya, Great Grandchildren – Maya, Jonah, Luke, Seth Mc Millen, Jasmine Brown, Tyler Henry, Amber Henry, Samatha (Sami) Henry, sister-in-law, Janice Highhouse and nephew, Jim Highhouse.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Highhouse and his nephew, Scott Highhouse,
daughter- Cindy Lou Brown-Horner, son- Chris McMillen.
Fred’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 2 to 4 P.M. at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. A funeral and committal service will follow the visitation at 4PM with Rev. Alan Jones, officiating. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park. It came with a great deal of regret in reading the newspaper this morning and learning of the passing a great friend, a true gentleman, Fred Highhouse, He always had a kind word and a smile to greet you with. Fred was much fun and an interesting man to talk to. To Fred’s entire family, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers

My heart is broken for my dear cousin but I know he is with our Savior Jesus Christ. He fought a very brave battle but knew it was time to go and meet Jesus. My arms and love are with you my dear Mary. Know he is at peace. I love you Mary.
