Evangeline M. Chase, 96, of Starbrick, PA, died Friday morning May 12,
2017, peacefully at her residence of 70 years, with her daughters by her
side. She was born on August 17, 1920, in Westfield, New York, the daughter
of the late James A. Simpson and Lilly B. Main Simpson. Evangeline was a
Warren area resident for most of her life, and a 1938 graduate of Warren
High School. She was a member of the Starbrick VFD Women’s Auxiliary, Hill
and Dale Garden Club, and the Starbrick Lunch Bunch.
She is survived by her two daughters – Barbara Tubbs and husband, Ronald
of Starbrick, PA, Marcia Newark and husband, Richard of Lake Havasu, AZ.
She is also survived by her sister Catherine Anderson of Lakeland, FL, five
grandchildren – Terri Pangborn, Cathy Carlson, Cheryl Staples, Roger Tubbs
and Andy Tubbs, eleven great-grandchildren, nineteen great-great-
grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen
B. Chase, whom she married on June 2, 1939 in Warren, PA, her son, David
Chase, and two brothers, James Simpson and Edward Carr.
Friends may call at First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Street, Warren, PA
on Saturday, June 17th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will
follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, Pastor, officiating. A private
burial at Westview Cemetery, Starbrick, PA, will be held at the convenience
of the family. Those wishing to place memorials may do so through First
