Charles R. McAvoy, 82, Warren, PA. died peacefully Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born March 10, 1932 in Corry, PA. Son of the late William and Ruby Sheets McAvoy. Charles was a Warren area resident for the past 58 years and a former Corry area resident. He had served during the Korean War with the U.S. Army as a Sergeant. Chuck was employed with G.T.E. Sylvania in the Maintenance Dept. for retiring from there after 25 years employment. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.
He is survived by 5 Children – Sandra Farnsworth of Cleveland, OH., Cindy Fredericks and Karen Turner both of Erie, PA., Rodney McAvoy, Daniel McAvoy and wife, Yvonne all of Warren, PA., 6 Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel M. Clark McAvoy who died June 21, 1986 whom he married July 5, 1954 in Chautauqua, New York, 1 infant son, Charles Robert McAvoy, 4 Sisters – Betty Cass, Irene Proper, Billie Kuhn, Gertrude Coons, 2 Brothers – Alfred W. “Bud” McAvoy, James McAvoy.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 2 to 4 P.M. followed by funeral and committal service at 4:00 P.M. by Rev. Marcus Briggs, Chaplain of the Warren General Hospital, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA. Those wishing to place memorials may do so through Warren Lions Club, P.O.
