Carol Stewart Mead, 90, of Warren, PA., died Monday, August 7, 2023, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home, Warren, PA., following a brief illness. She was born November 10, 1932, in Warren, PA. She was the daughter of William “Pete” and Marion Tuttle Stewart. Carol graduated from Warren High School, class of 1950 and was employed as a secretary at Pennsylvania Gas Company. On October 28, 1950, she married Wyllis “Will” Mead, Jr., with whom she shared over seventy years of loving marriage. She was a stay-at-home mom for their five children, after her children were raised, she worked as a secretary at the Penn State Cooperative Extension Office and the Watson Memorial Home.
Carol and Will were members of Circle 8 Square Dance Club for over 30 years. They enjoyed travels for many years in their RV.
Carol’s favorite place was the family camp in Shipman’s Eddy.
Carol was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Epworth Methodist Church, where Carol and Will were married and raised their family.
Carol is survived by her sons, Dan Mead and wife, Wendy of State College, PA., Jeff Mead of Warren, PA., James Mead and wife, Peg of Corry, PA., her daughter, Carolyn Fry and husband, Corky of Warren, PA., 8 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, Sister-in-law, Sandy Reynolds of Englewood, Florida, several nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wyllis W. Mead, Jr. who died August 11, 2021, 1 Son – David Mead, 1 Grandson, Eric Mead.
A private graveside service will be conducted at the convenience of the family at Oakland Cemetery, Warren, PA., with Rev. William Beatty, Pastor, officiating.
