Carl R. Swanson, Jr., 77, of Warren, PA., died Monday, May 31, 2021 at St. Vincent Healthcare Center, Erie, PA. after a courageous battle with cancer. Carl was born December 4, 1943 in Warren, PA. He was the son of Carl R. Swanson, Sr. and Carol M. Forslund Swanson Martin. He was a lifelong Warren area resident. Carl graduated in 1961 from Warren High School. He was employed as a Diamond Die Maker at the former G.T.E. Sylvania for 36 years, retiring in 2001. He had served with the U.S. Air Force as a E-3. Carl was a member of the Warren American Legion Post 135, Warren Moose Lodge 109, North Star Masonic Lodge and Warren Eagles Aerie. He was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels. Carl was an avid golfer, boater, fisherman and hunter, he especially enjoyed ice fishing.
Carl is survived by his wife, Linda Hoffner Swanson whom he married June 20, 1992 in Warren, PA., 2 Daughters – Kimberlee Jean Swanson of Warren, PA., Kelly Marie Case and husband, David of Erie, PA., 1 Brother – Jim Swanson and his wife, Cathy of Scandia, PA., 2 Sisters – Linda McCullough and Gloria Gates and her husband, Robert all of Warren, PA., 4 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, William “Bill” Martin, Brother-in-law, Jim McCullough, Sister-in-law, Marcia Bines Swanson.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., a funeral and committal service will be conducted with Rev. James Swanson, Carl’s nephew, and Pastor of Pleasant Community Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. So sorry for your loss to Linda and Carl’s daughters, the McCullough family, Gates family, and his entire family. Every morning I golfed at Blueberry Carl was there finishing his 9 holes, we would always talk for a while about his round and maybe the weather or fishing. Carl will be missed by all that knew him, he was a special man.

It was with a great deal of regret we learned of Carl passing. Whenever we would meet Carl he always had a smile, kind work and joked a little to make you feel welcome. Please know Carl’s entire family is in our thoughts and prays. Rest in peace our friend.
