I saw his face and knew I had known him.Remembering the past with my two friends Kevin and Jim sons of this man, brought back good memories.Even at Grampa’s in Frewsburg. I often think of the good times we had there also. Sorry to see him go to the Lord, but isn’t this all of our goals?
Will keep yours and him in my prayers at this sorrowful time.
I met Burt after having been fortunate enough to marry his stepdaughter, Tina. Burt was one of the most sincere, loving, intelligent and hard working people I have ever known and Tina loved him so. A memory or two. In September 2004, while Tina and I were living in Pensacola, Florida, our home was struck by a large oak tree which fell on the roof as the result of Hurricane Ivan’s fierce winds. Burt, then 75 years old, selflessly came to our aid climbing onto the roof with me and using his chain saw to help remove multiple large branches which had pierced the roof in several places. Then he assisted in placing tarps over the large holes in the roof. Happily, Tina and I were privileged to be there to share and enjoy accompanying Burt and Millie on interesting and fun filled scenic excursions, like the trip to the Tweetsie Railroad, while they wintered in Florida and to celebrate significant dates like Christmas with them there. Rest in peace Burt.
I worked for Burt many years ago at Petrex. I learned a lot from him and the other employees. I then worked with his daughter Lois Owen at WSH, never knowing he was her dad. Fond memories of a hard-working man!
