Andrew J. “Andy” Brunner, Sr., 87, formerly of Warren, PA, died Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Suites of Rouse in Youngsville, PA.
Born on April 20, 1929, Andy was the son of the late Anthony J. and Matilda Rauch Brunner. On March 17, 1953 in Hagerstown, MD, he married Charlotte Mellott Brunner, who died January 10, 2004.
Andy had lived in the Warren area since 1969, previously residing in Sewickley, PA. He had been employed with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers for 34 years. Andy had served with the U. S. Navy Seabees during the Korean War and was a life member of Post 1504 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also an avid hunter.
Andy is survived by 3 sons – Alan D. Brunner and his wife, Jean, of Pittsburgh, PA, Andy Brunner and his wife, Barbara, of Dothan, AL, and John G. Brunner of Ft. Collins, CO, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother – Raymond Brunner and his wife, Shirley, two sisters – Loretta and Rose Brunner all of McCandless Twp., PA., and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Andy was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine “Sister Beatrice”Brunner.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, with Rev. Marcus Briggs, Chaplain of the Rouse Warren County Home, officiating. Interment will be in Weiler Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Sheffield/Clarendon V.F.W. funeral honor guard, and U.S. Navy personnel. Hi John, I am sorry to hear about your Father passing. It has been many years since I have seen you or anyone in your family but I thought I would let you know that I remember a lot of good times at the Brunner’s when you lived up on Route 59. My mother passed away 17 years ago and my Dad is still alive and well. I hope things are well with you.
