Mr. Andrew “Andy” ”Jack” Fredrick Henry, 95, of Rock Hill, SC, and formerly of Warren, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at WillowBrooke Court.
Born in Shelby, OH, Mr. Henry was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Henry and the late Merle Hammond Henry. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII serving aboard the Air Craft Carrier, USS Bon Homme Richard CV31 in the Pacific Theatre and was in the fleet for the signing of the surrender in Tokyo Bay.
He retired from National Forge Company of Irvine, PA as Director of System and Data Processing and moved to Rock Hill. While employed with The Forge, he installed one of the first shop floor control systems for a steel manufacturing and precision finishing machine shop. He also installed IBM systems.
He was active in many organizations including the VFW, Elks, Rotary Club and SPEBSQSA (Barbershop). He was a member of the St. Anne Catholic Church of Rock Hill serving as an Area Representative (1990-1992) and as Parish Council President (1992-1994). He also served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Mr. Henry was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma and the mother of their three children. He was also preceded by his second wife, Martha Gibbs and third wife, Ruby McKee. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Delores Grama of Willard, OH and Audrey Gross of Norwalk, OH.
Surviving are his children, Andrea (Damien) Zdarko of Shippenville, PA, Teresa (Randy) Casterline of Warren, OH and Andrew (Sally) F. Henry Jr. of Shermans Dale, PA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Lynn (Diane) Henry of Rock Hill, SC; his sister, Lillian Bores of Willard, OH; his stepchildren, Leslie (Rob) Carroll of Rock Hill, SC and Michael (Libby) McKee of Canton, NC.
A funeral mass will be held at 2pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Rock Hill, SC, with Father Paul Brenninkmeijer officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of the Resurrection at St. Joseph Cemetery, Warren, PA.
