Allen T. McGary, 59, of Warren, PA., died Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio after an extended illness. He was born December 19, 1958 in New Castle, PA.
Allen was the son of the late Albert and Marion Hart McGary.
He was a Warren area resident since 2003 and grew up in Volant, PA, also resided in Pleasantville, PA., from 1989 to 2003.
Allen was a 1977 graduate of Lawrence County Area Vocational Technical High School, New Castle, PA. He was previously employed with Kaufman Hardware of New Wilmington, PA. and then was owner/operator of Pleasantville Hardware from 1989 to 2000 in Pleasantville, PA. He was a member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, Warren, PA., lifelong member of the National Rifle Association, member of Jamestown Rifle Club, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid hunter, Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, especially enjoyed NASCAR, his favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. He was previously a member and former Assistant Chief of the Volant Volunteer Fire Department. He was a scratch golfer and former member of the Union City Country Club. Allen was a member of the Just for Today Narcotics Anonymous Group.
Allen is survived by his wife of 34 years, Leslie Dangelo McGary whom he married June 16, 1984 at St. Joseph Church, Sharon, PA.,
1 Aunt – Millicent McConnell of New Wilmington, PA., several cousins, including Barbie Haverty of Cassadaga, N.Y., mother-in-law, Catherine Dangelo of Warren, PA., 2 Brother-in-laws, Daniel Dangelo of Milton, FL., David Dangelo of Pittsfield, PA., his two faithful Labrador Retrievers, Lady and Breea.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Joseph Dangelo.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 6 to 8 P.M. where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:45 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. James Gutting, Pastor, officiating, assisted by Deacon Raymond Wiehagen. Further visitation hours will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 4 to 7 P.M., at the Smith Funeral Home, LTD., 310 W. Neshannock Avenue, New Wilmington, PA., where a funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 13, 2018 with Rev. Rebecca Rosengarth, Pastor of New Wilmington United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Fair Oaks Cemetery, New Wilmington, PA. I am so sorry to hear of Allen’s passing. I used to work at NW Accounting and I had taken a few of your phone calls. I remember listening to you talk and I was amazed you handled everything that you did. You were dealing with so much…and I am so truly sorry you’ve had to go through all that you have.
