James Paul “Pops” Hand, age 84, of Warren, PA, formerly of Rahway, NJ died suddenly Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Warren General Hospital. James was born January 28, 1935 in Bradford, PA to the late Charles and Angeline Hand.
James was a longtime Warren resident, having moved from Rahway, following retirement from Dock Resin, where he was a Chemical Operator. James was a United States Marine for 10 ½ years, spending the majority of his time stationed in Quantico, Virginia. James was proud to be a part of the Boilermakers, having taken part of constructing the Gateway Arch.
James will be remembered for his love of art, specifically drawing, painting and woodworking. He loved yardwork of any kind, always having a beautiful yard and garden. James also enjoyed his crossword puzzles and word finds.
James is survived by his 3 sons, Kenneth and his wife Cheryl of Warren, PA, Gordon Hand of Warren, PA and James Hand, Jr. of NJ; 1 daughter, Eva Hand of Atlantic City, NJ; 4 Grandchildren, Rebecca Hand, David Bennett, Matthew Bennett and Miranda Brown, all of Warren; 1 Great Granddaughter, Isabella, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Eva Hand; his daughter, Marion Hoffman and 1 sister, Jane Yonkie.
Friends will be received Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Praise Fellowship, 7451 Market Street, Russell, PA from 9am to 11am, at which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Rick Rohlin, Lead Pastor. Full military honors will be conducted by the John Gertsch Memorial Post 77 Funeral Detail and US Marine Corp. personnel. Interment will be in BG William C.
