Shannon J. Hannah, Sr., 80, of Warren, PA., died Monday evening, September 24, 2018 at Warren General Hospital after an extended illness. He was born January 22, 1938 in Erie, PA. Shannon was the son of the late Clyde and Bernice Ruth McAvoy Hannah. He was a Warren resident for the past 36 years, and was formerly of Pittsfield and Tidioute, PA. Shannon was employed for 41 ½ years with Betts Industries, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing. He wrote letters to the editor in the Warren Times Observer for over 40 years. He attended numerous churches and was active in their music programs.
Shannon is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen L. Yonker Hannah whom he married September 4, 1982 in Garland, PA., 4 Children – Shannon J. Hannah, Jr. and wife, Stacey of Waterford, PA., Jennie Lynn Hannah of Erie, PA., Angela Bigelow and husband, Abraham and Crystal Hannah all of Warren, PA., 9 Siblings – Craig Hannah, Shannon Check both of Tidioute, PA., Edie McChesney and husband, Ralph, Pat Eastman, Toni Bean and husband, Bruce all of Springcreek, PA., Sandy Morrison and husband, Bob, Nancy Schekler and husband, Butch all of Tidioute, PA., Bonnie McCune and husband, Art of Garland, PA., Kevin Hannah of Ebensburg, PA., 13 Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Daughter – Rebecca Meyerink, 1 Brother – Michael Hannah.

Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 6 to 8 P.M. where a funeral service will be conducted Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Michael Poindexter, Pastor of Pleasant Community Church, officiating.

For a few decades there, Mr. Hannah and I had intense, sometimes titanic, verbal disagreements as he delighted in “pushing the envelope” with extremist statements in his letters to the editor and I tried to keep the discourse civil. Personally speaking, Mr. Hannah was companionable and a nice guy, with a genuine (though, in my view, kooky) love of country. Rest in peace.
