My condolences go out to Joans family. She was a sweet and wonderful lady. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit. She always had the most upbeat attitude about each and every day. She never complained even when she was going through serious health problems for a while. She’d always say “It’s a nice day” even if it was the crappiest weather outside. We will miss her at the apartment on East Street and all those who knew her at Beacon Light.
Mary Anne, thank you for your thoughts and kind words. Was really looking forward to bringing her to Ohio for a few more Thanksgiving Holidays. She was a very strong person who gave so much and asked for so little.
Ted, sorry for your loss. Steve and Sheryl
thank you for your thoughts.
Allen and family,
So sorry to hear that Aunt Joan passed. I have been trying to find her for a couple of years and have not been successful. I have been in contact with Uncle Bud’s son Jimmy and his wife. I am so sorry that all of us have not been in contact for such a long time.
Hi cuz, its been a long time huh. I remember your visit to PA long ago and riding with Jim Nicholson in your 64 er 65 Mustang, that is if I remember correctly. Also was there a cousin Sheryl back there at the same time. Thinkin that Sheryl and her husband bought a feed mill in Indiana for a few years. Well this could just be one big brain fart but it sounds good. Mom really enjoyed her visit to Cali way back when. Thank you for making that happen and thanks for your kind thoughts. Hope ur doing well.
Allen and family,
I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Joan. I have not been close with the Nicholson family, but they all have been in my thoughts. Every time I did see Aunt Joan she made everybody laugh. She was always such an up beat person. That’s how we should live life.
Lots of love to you all,
Joan Nicholson Blackwell
Hi Joan, don’t believe we’ve ever met or spoken to each other. Do remember Grandma Alice had a pic of you and all her grand children from Cali. She was very proud to share those pics. Thank you for your kind words. Hope ur all doin well.
We are sad to hear this news. The James I Nicholson family will always cherish our visits with Aunt Joan and her brother Bud when we lived in PA. It was a time we got to know her and her sweet, funny personality.
It was also a time our family got to witness a brother and sister have adventures together in their senior years. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. Rest In Peace Aunt Joan

Hi Jim, I remember when your family visited up at the farm so long ago. I also remember the trip to Niagara Falls with you,Uncle Bud and my mom. It was kind of Uncle Bud to include her when visiting you and your family, it meant a lot to my mom. I am glad that they got to reconnect and share good times after such a long time. Thank you for your kind thoughts. Hope that you and your family are well.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Aunt Joan’s family.I remember the fun times spent on the farm and still reminisce today.(So long ago.)I loved her laugh and sweet personality.I am thankful for the time our Dad (Bud) was able to travel & the time spent with her in their later years. I am also thankful our Dad made it possible for her to travel to Texas meet and visit with our entire family. They will always have that memory. May Aunt Joan Rest In Peace.
Cousin Jenny, First things first, I’m not a bettin man but my money says you still have the 57 Chevy that you and Uncle Bud built together. I remember him looking for parts when back in PA. I know he also loved those Corvairs, guessin you still have them. Since ur the motor head of the Texas Nicholsons I will share with you that in 2017 Diane and I took our Jeep for two weeks to Moab UT and Arizona to drive some trails. we also explored Rt66. Thank you for your memories of my mom, I am glad she brings back fond memories.
