Raymond L. Hoffman, 95, of Warren, PA, died Friday, October 27, 2017, at The Rouse Home in Youngsville, PA. Born on September 16, 1922 in Warren, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Nellie Gosden Hoffman. On November 20, 1948, in Warren, PA, he married Evelyn Hettenbaugh Hoffman, who died on July 1, 1981.
Ray was a longtime dairy farmer. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, and was wounded during the Battle of Normandy and received the Purple Heart. He enjoyed hunting, riding his 4 wheeler, cutting wood, timbering and attending to his oil wells. Ray loved his family and was very proud of his grandkids and great grandkids.
Ray is survived by his daughter – Debby Lucks and her husband, Fred, of Warren, PA; 2 grandsons – Allen (Lisa) Lucks of Warren, PA, and Charlie (Natalie) Lucks, of Pittsfield, PA; 6 great grandchildren – Kristine, Taylor, Elizabeth, Derek, Nathan, and Rachael; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Ray was preceded in death by a daughter – Nancy Wright; 3 sisters – Vera Taft, Margaret Carlson, and Frances Darling; and 4 brothers – Donald, George, Albert, and Ralph Hoffman.
Friends may call from 1-3pm and 7-9pm on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30am Wednesday, November 1, 2017, with Rev. Marcus Briggs, Chaplain of The Rouse Home, officiating. Interment will be in Weiler Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by members of the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W. Funeral Detail and U.S. Army personnel. Following the services friends are invited to a luncheon to be held at the Jackson Valley Golf Club.
